New 2027 Adventure all set!

 

Hi all

Another European adventure all planned and in the bag!

Next March (2027) Felicity, Norm and Holly will do the long haul again from Hobart to Europe. Holly will join us for the first half of the six week journey. All of the trip will be new territory for Holly, with Felicity and Norm revisiting some favourite sites, and taking in some new ones as well.

As you can see from the plan above we will start this time in beautiful Nice, in southern France. Just 3 days this time, but what a place too let the jet lag fade.

Then a week in the southern Italian port of Genoa, with side trips to Turin, Portofino and Pisa.

Followed by a week in beautiful Venice, a revisit for Norm and Felicity after 10 years - we hope Holly is ready for a shock to the senses!

The next week sees us in Ljubljana, Slovenia, our second visit to this wonderful country and unique small city. Holly will return home at the end of our stay.

Next on to Croatia, Zagreb for our first visit followed by a week on the beautiful Adriatic Coast based from the "palace" town of Split (how could we not return).

While the map shows a ferry to Athens - after our Corfu to Brindisi experience this year we have opted to fly with Air Croatia to the cradle of civilisation for the final week of our trip. Norm's first time and a revisit for Doctor Novy, so we can soak up some ancient Greek ruins instead of the usual Roman ones. Hang on Norm! Felicity informs me Athens has plenty of Roman ruins as well.

As usual Norm has enjoyed the planning and booking, Holly and Felicity are just waiting for the ride to begin. Only 5 months to wait.

Bath and Somerset 5th and 6th May 2026

 Hi all,  We made our way from Hobart to the UK via Sydney and Singapore arriving safe and well on the 5th of May. With Norm and Felicity in Premium Economy, as a result of Trumps efforts which cancelled our business class via the Middle East, we just managed! Holly of course was in frequent flyer economy - the young can cope! We picked up our Enterprise rental car and Felicity chauffeured us west to Highclere Castle to visit the scene of the Downton Abbey series, a great way to stay awake and break our journey to Bath. Apologies to Felicity for the wind blown hair in the photo - we had just travelled for 24 hours! Then onward to Bath and check-in for our airbnb right in the city centre where we will spend the next 6 nights. The apartment is great, right on Bath Street opposite the Roman Baths. Next trip not far away

 Hi all Just three weeks away from our next trip to the northern hemisphere!  It has been a month of changed flights and rearrangements due to the Trump stupidity in the Middle East. However, while we had to give up some flights via Dubai we are now all set to go to London via Singapore instead - slightly longer, and a drop from business to premium economy, but I think we will cope! As per our last few trips Holly will join us for the first few weeks in the UK and Ireland. We are staying in Bath for the first week, while Holly attends the Badminton Horse show and Felicity and I spend a bit of time around the beautiful south east English countryside. Then we are off to Ireland for a couple of weeks to introduce Felicity and Holly to Norm’s birthplace and, hopefully, some aunties and cousins. Holly leaves us in Belfast to return home, then Felicity and Norm head off to Corfu, Puglia and Malta for the next 4 weeks - looking forward to keeping you all updated as we progress! As us...

Corfu, Greece to Brindisi, Italy 30th and 31st May

 Hi all,  We left Corfu yesterday afternoon, in what turned out to be an ode to Homer’s Odyssey - or alternatively a mini Greek shipping tragedy! I don’t know why the new Spirits of Tasmania need the $500m plus budget overrun on their port infrastructure, as if they took a leaf out of the Greek ferry manual, they would just drive up to the closest wharf, drop the loading dock and drive the cars and trucks off.  Oh, did I mention that the mooring might be up to a kilometre away in the dark from the passenger terminal, where there is no information at all, passengers just wander aimlessly towards which ferry they think is theirs, through the truck and vehicle traffic currently loading and unloading simultaneously! Until, if still in one piece,  they are rescued by a passing shuttle bus, and dumped near the truck loading bay, with cases.
