Berlin - 2nd June 25
Hi all,
Another day to explore Berlin, including revisiting some places from yesterday to view from within.
Firstly, we took advantage of our pre-booked (free) entry into the Reichstag and its new dome. This is the German parliament so security was necessarily tight.
The views from the top were great over the Tiergarden on one side and the River Spree on the other.
We then took a bus ride to the Gendarmenmarkt, a huge square with a couple of big churches facing off - the French church and the German Church!
Since we first visited Europe, when a paper map was an essential piece of kit, we have relied heavily on Google maps to find our way around - it has been excellent, including showing exactly which train, tram, bus or ferry to take. However, today we found ourselves in an unfamiliar part of town and Google turned off - so it was back to Boy Scout days and we found our way back home, via the Humboldt University canteen for a refreshment, it was amazing to see so many students enjoying campus life - something I believe Hobart has left behind.
Anyway, we are safely back in our temporary home in Tucholskystraße for a rest, all our love from the Travellers ❤️⛪️🧳🍷🚊
