Munich to Vienna 4-5 May 25

 Hi all

On Sunday we said goodbye to Munich and made the 5 hour train trip to Vienna, via Salzburg. It was our first rainy day, as we made the late afternoon U Bahn trip from the Station towards our apartment in Stephansplatz, right in the centre of this great city, near the StephansDom.

Monday was a “free” day, so we hit the city circle tram for a look around the magnificent city buildings - using our weekly all inclusive transport pass which cost the grand sum of 20 Euro. First visit was the SiSi museum dedicated to Empress Elizabeth.

Which is of course part of the outstanding Hofburg palace, which is a short walk from us. We then headed for a look inside the Stephansdom, the Vienna Cathedral, one of many churches we expect to visit while here (sorry Holly). It didn’t disappoint.

Our final assignment for the day was an evening Vivaldi Concert by the renowned 1756 ensemble in the magnificent Karlskirk (St Charles Church). It was a great performance that Felicity hasn’t stopped talking about, with a virtuoso violinist Jenny Lippl leading from the front. The venue was pretty impressive of course.

Well, we finished our first “free” day in Vienna on a high at about 10pm, obviously free doesn’t mean resting! More palaces and churches tomorrow I expect.

All our love from the Travelers 🧳❤️⛪️🏰
